The new Alvarado Argus V60 is a full-performance, compact optical turnstile ideal for use where safety and security are needed, and space is limited. This turnstile features a housing depth of only 9-1/2” (240mm) – making it the most compact optical turnstile available. The Argus V60 utilizes a breakthrough sensor algorithm (patent pending) and vertical sensors for exceptional tailgating detection. For added security, the swinging barrier height can be raised to match the level of the V60 housing. Safety features include additional sensors to monitor the swing area of the barriers, and free egress in an emergency or loss of power.
“Optical turnstiles provide an effective solution to control access in corporate lobbies, college recreation centers, distribution centers, and more,” said Ron Virden, senior vice president, access automation solutions at dormakaba. “The Argus V60 uses sensors in a more effective way to prevent tailgating in a footprint 72% smaller than any optical turnstile in the market today. It’s higher security in a smaller package.”
This innovative optical turnstile won the Access Control Software, Hardware, Devices, & Peripherals – Wired category at the 2023 New Products and Solutions (NPS) Awards from the Security Industry Association (SIA).
Key Features Summary:
- Decreased cabinet footprint of 9-7/16″ width
- Standard and handicapped width lanes have same cabinet dimensions
- Highly intuitive LED illuminated user lights embedded in cabinet
- Crystal clear glass swinging barriers
- Cabinet finish and lid color options to blend with any environment
- Multi-array sensor and algorithm technology (patent pending)
The Argus V60 features exclusive multi-array sensor and algorithm technology that offers two distinct advantages. A high resolution one-dimensional vertical sensor detects the signals in real time effectively providing a hi-res 2-D image from 1-D sensor information. These signals see gaps between two silhouettes and as silhouettes are being detected, the algorithm builds a model of the silhouette. This model uses the characteristic front and rear edge information of the silhouette as well as all the data points in between to classify it either as a person or a non-person (i.e., baggage). This improved tailgating detection reduces false alarms allowing security personnel to focus on other tasks.
